Since 1930 the Annual Communications of the Cairo Division have provided an international platform for papers on Egyptian archaeology and cultural history. The topics treated cover a time-span from the pre-dynastic period through the Christian era and up until the Islamic period. Besides the emphasis on archaeology and the publication of the latest results of excavations by international consortia, there is a discussion of topics from art history and cultural history and topical questions and research. In addition, the current excavations of the Cairo Division are reported on at three to four-yearly intervals, supported by copious pictorial material. Contributions are published in German, English or French, each with an English abstracts. They are illustrated with numerous high-quality reproductions, plans and plates.
